A Home to Make Your Own with COLORBOND® Steel.

A home to make your own with COLORBOND® steel.

Trusted by Australians, a roof made from COLORBOND® steel is the perfect way to complete your home. COLORBOND® steel is now a standard inclusion across our entire range of homes – at no additional cost*.

Tested in Australian conditions

It’s no surprise to any of us that there are harsh weather conditions across Australia, from the desert to the snow, to down to the coast, Australians experience a myriad of weather conditions, and we need to ensure that our roof materials can keep up. This is why we are proud suppliers of COLORBOND® steel. Their range undergoes extensive testing, including; corrosion testing, durability testing, and application testing.

Sustainability and thermal efficiency

COLORBOND® steel is 100% recyclable and, in some circumstances, can be re-used without additional reprocessing. With the increased cost of living, we are all looking for ways to save on our energy bills; this is why we trust COLORBOND® steel. Twenty-one of the core Classic colours in the COLORBOND® steel range (all of them except for Night Sky®), together with the six Matt colours, feature special Thermatech® solar reflectance technology. Thermatech® technology is designed to reflect more of the sun’s heat on hot sunny days, which can help keep homes cooler in the summer**.

Layers of protection

Tested under the harshest Australian conditions, COLORBOND® steel roofs meet relevant Australian standards and offer five layers of protection.

Manufactured to relevant Australian standards (AS 1397:2021 and AS/NZS 2728:2013), COLORBOND® steel offers five layers of protection.

  1. The steel base is manufactured to meet relevant Australian Standards, ensuring strict adherence to the required grade and strength.
  2. The base is then coated in BlueScope’s industry leading metallic coating incorporating Activate® technology***, to provide enhanced corrosion resistance.
  3. A thin pretreatment layer is applied to optimise the adhesion of further coatings.
  4. A corrosion-inhibitive primer is baked onto the surface.
  5. topcoat of specially developed, exterior-grade paint is baked on to provide resistance to chipping, flaking and blistering and to ensure the finish retains its look for longer.

Easy to maintain

Caring for COLORBOND® steel is easy. The best way to maintain the life of your COLORBOND® steel is to wash it regularly with fresh, clean water. This is particularly important for wall cladding under eaves, the top of garage doors and the underside of eave gutters, which should be checked at least every 6 months. Additional cleaning may be required in areas close to the coastline or where you may experience high levels of industrial fallout. To learn more, please visit https://colorbond.com/why-colorbond-steel/maintenance.
